What are OC Jams?
OC stands for "original characters". Growing up, I alongside many of my friends were invested in designing fictional characters and writing stories similar to the media we would read or watch. Part of the inspiration spanned from the fact we identified as part of a minority group and wanted to see more representation of ourselves in media.
Thanks to social media, I got to meet other talented artists with amazing OCs and stories to tell. So during the summer of 2015, I started hosting and organizing yearly mini projects with friends to celebrate everyone's OCs and creativity.

TELEMEME (June - October)
Short for "Telephone Meme". The idea was taken from a trend a while back, but I turned it into a yearly event. One person starts off with an original design of a character which gets passed to another participant, where they have to redesign the character to their style. 2015: [x] (14 participants) 2016: [x] (23 participants) 2017: [x] (19 participants) 2018: [x] (19 participants) |
OCEPTEMBER (September)
Originally called "OC-tober", I had to move away from the pun so that the tag was easier to find and my friends who were busy in October could join in the event. Back in 2016, I came up with prompts for a monthly challenge in order to encourage people to share their OCs with others. It accidentally took off in 2018 and got a lot more attention than I expected. Nevertheless, I'm glad everyone was so enthusiastic and I got to meet many new friends! OC SECRET SANTA (December)
At the end of the year, I like to celebrate by hosting a secret santa where participants get to draw fanart for each other's OCs. OCeptember often introduces the characters to people, while OC secret santa is the opportunity for folks to express their appreciation for everyone's creations! I tend to go all out on mines as its my final art piece of the year. Submission Page: [x] |
